Well Clay Guida's win over Anthony Pettis at last night's Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale did do a little something to clear up the log-jammed lightweight title picture -- it eliminated Pettis from the hunt. Since Guida was always at least a couple more wins away from a shot that means there is one less challenger waiting the outcome of Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard 3.

UFC President Dana White told MMA Fighting that despite Guida's win, Jim Miller is at the front of the line. Miller has won seven straight fights and his only career losses have come to UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar (at Reality Fighting 14 in 2006) and Gray Maynard (at UFC 96 in 2009).

No date has yet been announced for Edgar vs Maynard 3. It had originally been scheduled for UFC 130 in May, but both fighters had to drop out with injuries. Edgar sustained broken ribs and a back injury in training and Maynard hurt his knee and underwent surgery.

Miller will risk everything against former WEC champ Ben Henderson at UFC on Versus 5 in August.

He would do well to keep the fate of his fellow contender George Sotiropoulos in mind. Sotiropoulos was one fight away from a title shot when he lost to Dennis Siver at UFC 127.
