WWE Press Release (28 minutes after the news broke across spoiler sites on the world wide web on February 17th 2011):
It is with great sadness and regret that I can reveal the rumours are true, WWE as a business and media company has been bought and rebranded. The collapse is due to a number of factors that will be discussed in later press releases. Suffice to say, a drop in ratings and sponsor backing led to a significant drop in capital and we had to seek a solution. We apologise to, and thank with all our hearts, the years of support afforded us by WWE fans worldwide. From our humble beginnings to global domination, you’ve been there to support your favourite stars and we can’t thank you enough.
Yours in good faith,
Current Head of Public Relations,
Shane McMahon
P.S. Never say never...

Soon, sites and forums are rife with gossip.

“Check the broadcast listings, all the shows are gone except a slot that remains open for the rest of the quarter where Monday Night Raw used to be…â€
“TNA just folded too?! A dark day for professional wrestling “
