Backstage News on WWE Saving a Big Match for Roman Reigns

WWE is reportedly saving the singles match between Drew McIntyre and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for a bigger event.

WrestleMania Backlash will see Reigns and McIntyre lock up in the big six-man, with The Bloodline taking on McIntyre and RAW Tag Team Champions RK-Bro, and there’s no word yet on when the McIntyre vs. Reigns match will happen, but Wrestling Observer Radio reports that it is in the plans, with the title on the line.

Reigns and McIntyre have fought at WWE live events and in dark main events, but WWE wants to do the big title bout between the two at a “bigger event” as officials see this as a major match.

WWE has Hell In a Cell in June, and then Money In the Bank plus SummerSlam in July. They could also save the match for Clash at The Castle in September, but that seems like too much of a delay. McIntyre has noted in recent interviews that he’d like to challenge for the title at the big Clash at The Castle event, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 3 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

I think they can get away with waiting until July but I still feel like Drew winning the MITB and announcing well ahead of time he's cashing in his shot for the UK PLE would my preferred option.

Unlike Lesnar, Drew and Roman actually have chemistry in the ring. I'm sure the showdown match will be great, but teasing it along for 3 months or whatever is going to be wretched. Ideally the "WWE officials" decide that the titles need to be split again, and thus MITB is for the WWE title, with idk....Owens winning it. That frees up one title for fresh matches (fingers crossed) whilst giving SD the Roman/Drew show.

I'm more PISSED that they cancelled the tag unification match for ? reasons. Just when I thought maybe, just MAYBE, they start giving a fuck about tag team wrestling on the main roster, they pulled that shit. Sad.

theyll never ever care about tag team wrestling, its only being highlighted because main eventers like orton are part of one team and the other is related to the golden boy Roman. the second rok breaks up or usos are no longer title holders or relevant, itll be back to random booking and 10000 rematches a month between 3 teams (basically what it already is, anyways, but with a lot of screen time).

This entire PPV, from someone who only keeps up via clips and articles, is literally less hype than a regular ass episode of dynamite. theres not a single match on there thats not a rematch and there is currently only one title match lol

Last ppv was great n next one looks fire. Ishii v Josh for the title is the main. That match alone will blow any other match wwe has that weekeed away N just stream it xp i wont advocate to pay for things ever xp.

DoN is at the end of the month for AEW btw
