WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan reportedly has Sasha Banks and Naomi to thank, at least in part, for her ongoing push.

A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that part of the reason, if not the key reason, for Morgan’s recent push is the RAW walkout of Banks and Naomi in mid-May.

It was noted that when Banks and Naomi walked out, there was a feeling within WWE that the SmackDown brand needed a new top tier female babyface Superstar, and Morgan was the one who got the pick of the draw.

Morgan’s push has also worked out because the WWE fanbase has been rooting for her run as champion for more than a year now, and they were ready for the push.

WWE reportedly found early success with Morgan as champion. It was reported back on July 12 how Morgan received major pops from fans at weekend WWE live events, so loud that the source said they’d never heard louder pops for Morgan since she’s been with the company. It was also noted that her merchandise sales appeared to be much higher than before.

Morgan will go face-to-face with Ronda Rousey on tonight’s SmackDown. They will then face off for the title at WWE SummerSlam on July 30 in Nashville, in Rousey’s rematch from WWE Money In the Bank, where Morgan cashed in her MITB briefcase right after Rousey retained the title over Natalya.
I'm calling cap and say she was still winning regardless of whether they walked or not. Would they have been in the match? More than likely, however given they were supposedly so focused on wanting to do shit with the tag titles, winning would have been unlikely.

Yeah I really don’t think things would’ve changed that much. Liv would’ve still won at the start. Only difference is Ronda would’ve probably beat Sasha again instead of Nattie before Liv cashed in.

Then Summerslam would’ve probably been a triple threat with Liv/Sasha/Ronda.

And if the three of them were in a program together, Ronda could’ve gone full heel

Told y'all Sasha and Naomi were going onto title programs and they left because they're marks.

WWE officials remain high up on SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan.

Morgan won the title from Ronda Rousey at WWE Money In the Bank on July 2, and since then there has been a “massive surge” in merchandise sales for Liv on the WWE Shop website, and at WWE events, according to PWInsider. There was said to be a “marketed massive leap” in sales from almost the moment Morgan cashed-in her Money In the Bank briefcase on Rousey to become champion.

Morgan then retained her title over Ronda Rousey at WWE SummerSlam this past Saturday. Going into SummerSlam there was a feeling that the experiment of putting the title on Morgan, at least for the short-term, had paid off, and was working.

There is reportedly a lot of internal excitement over how well the fans have reacted to Morgan being pushed to the next plateau. There’s also a feeling that fans were waiting a while for this push to happen, and that officials maybe pulled the trigger on the push too late because they could’ve been making a lot more money sooner.

There continues to be a lot of positive internal talk about Morgan, her merchandise sales, and the reactions she’s receiving from fans, and how hard she’s working as of late. It was also said that a lot of people within WWE are happy with how Morgan’s push is going so far.
Aint no slowin' this train down :banderas: (hopefully)
