Following in the footsteps of former WWE and TNA Champion Bobby Lashley, Alberto Del Rio is in talks with Bellator MMA about competing in the promotion. Del Rio, unlike recent UFC signee CM Punk, actually does have experience competing in MMA and he has amassed a record of 9-5-0. Del Rio fought twice under the now defunct PRIDE promotion out of Japan, dropping fights to the legendary Mirko Cro Cop and Kazuhiro Nakamura.

Del Rio’s last bout as a pro came at Cage Of Combat IV in 2010, where he was defeated by Yamamoto Hanshi. Del Rio would sign with the WWE a short time later, thus he has not stepped into the cage in just about five years.

Interestingly enough, he actually fought main evented the very first Pride Bushido card back in 2003 against Cro Cop. Small world ain't it? I highly doubt the unified rules of mixed martial arts would allow him to wear that mask he did back in the day however. And out of competition since 2010? He's not gonna last against any of the new guys.
