Yeah, I may not be a big fan of Trump but hes no Hitler and no need for a world war. And I agree, it's pretty primal. But who knows, some primal traits are long gone. Some like our fight or flight still stays with us to this day.

That in itself is pretty neat when you think of like the ISS. A bunch of different countries, many of which have tensions, all working with a common goal together. I remember seeing a bit by an astronaut saying they don't even think politics or country up there, and when they look down on the...

Hopefully by the time we get to that level of space travel, we can calm down with the killing eachother bit.

Such a brilliant discovery and powerful thing, yet so devastating. Pretty unreal. And even that may just be a minor thing compared to some of the powers we yet await to discover of the cosmos. Unfortunately with that, means war may entirely ramp up. One day it may be entire planetary systems...

It's amazing to think how far both US and Japan have come as allies after such an event. Meanwhile, you have countries holding age old feuds over such minor things. :P

If anything, the nukes of WW2 should be inspiring as a human collective to never let us get to that point again and do what we can to prevent it. In a world war there really are no winners, just people who lose less than others.

Yeah, at that point in time we didn't really think of anything like that. Bombing tropical islands and even in our own deserts, just to test. You also look at stuff like Fukushima and Chernobyl and wonder just how wise it is for us to even use nuclear energy.

On one hand I don't know if anything else would have stopped Japan or caused them to yield. On the other, I can't say I agree with the massive casualties caused by the nukes to civilians. It was largely a no win situation, and something I think is best never to have happen again.

Not to mention the damage we, along with all others who did nuclear testing did to the earth.

I don't think either country has anything good to gain of tensions or war, tbh. It'd do nothing but damage both economies, and ramp up tensions with other countries as well.

Though that isn't to say they wouldn't ramp up tensions, and do similar mind games and flex their military might. A big thing to remember is how much we rely on them also for our space program. We currently get to the ISS thanks to Russia.

No idea. I don't think Russia has any intents nor have they of having any sort of war in a long time. Even during the cold war, I imagine it was mostly mind games and intimidation. It doesn't benefit them at all to go to war with us.

Honestly, it shows a lot about their culture. And not only that, bu christ...A country of that size was able to completely cripple China and do so much damage in WW2 due to their military prowess and culture.

General Chit-Chat Thread - No Spoilers

Much to most of my fellow democrats chagrin, I also think Russia is best kept as an ally and have a lot of respect for their history and military dominance. But then again, to want to be on the bad side of the largest country in the world with the largest stockpile of nuclear arms and most...

You look at the other big players, and they are much larger countries. Also ones usually surrounded by allies, and rich in numerous resources to sustain themselves. But here's little Japan, with only so many natural resources of their own. But look at how much of an impact they have on the...

I think a lot of people forget that, tbh. We are still a very young country. I mean, think about Rome when it was only as old as us. And yeah, true. And look how fast they have managed to rebuild each time. Their cultural discipline and innovation is possibly unmatched.

America being only a few hundred years old is a mere infant to some of these nations.

I think Italy is quite impressive, as is China and Japan when you think of it. Just how old they are, and how they have continued to have a decent amount of success non-stop as a power.

Yeah, I still scratch my head on the reasoning of that. But for some reason, both democrats and republicans feel the need to show unwavering support to Israel. Meanwhile, they do worse things than most countries we invade over their actions. Ah well.

Nah. Hitler was far worse, but also far more intelligent. Being intelligent is kind of a requirement for that sort of thing.
