He was someone who I did not fully appreciate when he was active. It wasn't until after his death and going back and watching some of his past matches is when I started to appreciate his talents.

The man died because his heart was destroyed by steroid and hard drug usage and we're pondering whether he'd still be wrestling 20 years later if he happened to have not died on that particular night?

I think the hypothetical is assuming he never took drugs at all. Obviously if he didn’t die that night it would’ve been a different night.

My problem with that hypothetical is that it completely rewrites who Eddie Guerrero was, so it's kinda pointless. Not to say Eddie wasn't or couldn't have been great independently, but frankly his substance abuse was a big part of his life and shaped his career and personality to such an extent that removing it from the equation is going to yield you a completely different person. Eddie's case is kinda different, because I don't believe he had an acute overdose, and his death was just the totality of wear abd tear that he'd put on his body, but it's kinda like asking what could have been for like Amy Winehouse or Mac Miller if they could have controlled their substance issues. The answer is that most likely, you woulda never heard of them or they woulda just been average artists with average fanbases. The talent exists in all these people but, essentially, their struggles are what made them who they were, so you have to account for that in your hypotheticals. If you wanna be thorough, at least. :lol

I mean he may have been retired by then as he’d have been 55 but I guess he still could’ve done something.

But Rey certainly would’ve never become world champ when he did. Eddie probably would’ve carried the title into WM 22 and/or challenged for it.

Eddie vs Shawn was the plan for 22, don’t think it was for the title though.

I have a rebuttal but I don’t wanna derail the thread. I agree with some points and disagree with others but we’ll leave it at that lol.
