As we all know rap mogul Kanye West just released "Yeezus". Now, let me start off by saying, I thought the album was decent. The beats were very heavy, and almost destructive, but I think Kanye layered well on the album, and everything sounded smooth. His raps were clever, and the track "New Slaves" stuck out to me; as far as lyrics go.

But, the music itself was not the problem with "Yeezus". Yeezus did not release a single, and when It came time to release the album, no one knew what they were buying. There was no advertisement, there was nothing to get "Yeezus" out there. Other than the fact that its Kanye West. Album Sales dropped by 80% off the No. 1 spot, on the Billboard 200. If Kanye had invested in a
single, and a little showmanship, "Yeezus" could have been great, as far as sales go.

I give "Yeezus" a 6.5/10

(I'm probably going to do more of these Album Reviews here and there.)

I don't criticize him for not hyping but it wasn't a smart thing to do from a sales standpoint. In my personal opinion, I thought it was way too noisy. I liked a lot of beats on it, but at times it just washed Kanye's out. I think the album is about an 8. It isn't his worst album, it's not his best. Overall it's just a complete mix of 808s and Dark Fantasy.

Seriously. Just listen to those and tell me that isn't the formula. Not that it's a bad thing, just an interesting observation. I say this is his third best solo album after Graduation and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. But IMO, Late Regristration an Dropout are on about the same level. Then 808s was probably his weakest overall (for lack of variety and lack of much rapping) though even 808s had some really enjoyable songs like Paranoid, Love Lockdown, Say You Will and Robocop.

My favorite songs from Yeezus were easily Blood On The Leaves, Black Skinhead, New Slaves and Bound 2.
