WWE SummerSlam Preview & Live Discussion - August 17th, 2014

This years SummerSlam will take place on August 17, 2014 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It will be the twenty-seventh annual SummerSlam, and the sixth consecutive one held at the Staples Center.

It's never too early to discuss the upcoming PPV and to try and predict the card. Right now I'd say we're looking at the following potential matches...

Brock vs. Cena - WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins
Rusev vs. Jack Swagger - Flag Match
Uso's vs. Wyatt's (please, please, please, although I feel they may move on to the Rhodes brothers here)
Randy Orton vs. Kane (just based on their arguments last night)
Roman Reigns vs. HHH (if the Game feels generous)
Paige vs. AJ III
Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho - some sort of gimmick match I suspect

That still leaves the IC and US Champs out of the mix, though they MAY go for the unification match.

So, what are your thoughts on the potential matches? Have any others you'd like to see?

I think that The Miz will feud with Ziggler over the title and they will have a title match at Summerslam.

You honestly think they're going to feud for four weeks and then have a blowoff at SummerSlam? If that happens, I'll be impressed. The more likely scenario is Ziggler demanding a match for the title tonight and losing.

A flag match? That would certainly be different as I don't think we've seen one in a while. Wouldn't Paige/AJ be match 4?

I think they should book the unification match and put a spin on it.

Sheamus (U.S.) vs. The Miz (IC) vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Unified Intercontinental Championship

After the events of the battle royal, the build for that would book itself.

I almost see Ziggler asking for a shot at Miz, but given a U.S. title match with Sheamus instead.

Miz will interfere and either cause a DQ or Sheamus will pick up the win without knowing he helped.

Was just coming to make this, was waiting til the first match was announced but see I was beat to that way early. Anyway John Cena vs Brock was announced on Raw so I'm PUMPED for that, gonna be happy when Brock rips Cena apart.

I'd go Reigns v Orton and Cesaro v Kane for a spot I'm the Authority and Steph v Brie

It's a lumberjack match. Disappointing. Hopefully since it's a big PPV match we don't get the usual lumberjack ending but I could see it happening for them to continue the chase of this feud.

Yeah, originally I thought it was kind of dumb but now that I've thought about it more I'm alright with it. This plays into Ambrose wanting to get his hands on Rollins and give him no chance to escape. Plus, with the shenanigans that are sure to ensue, it seems pretty obvious to me that this feud MUST continue. I'd think they can easily drag this out to a full blowoff at Hell in a Cell, where the damn match might actually mean something for a change.

That's the perfect stipulation. Ambrose is tired if Rollins escaping so now he can't.

Perfect for a starter stipulation, I guess. It can only evolve into something greater with the same idea such as what Fuji suggested. This feud is incredibly well done so far, it should go on for a long time.

Regarding a different match though...

Hollywood Miz is a really great character but this is one of those rare cases where the title should change hands on the first PPV defence. Summerslam is the perfect place for Dolph to get a big win, I feel like the title win would feel huge.
