WWE released their fourth quarter financials today. Here is the latest update on the company's PPV business:

* Pay-Per-View revenues were $14.6 million as compared to $13.8 million in the prior year quarter, reflecting a 2% increase in total pay-per-view buys. Buys for the four comparable events in the current and prior year quarter declined 3%, but were more than offset by an increase in prior period buys, which resulted in a 6% increase in pay-per-view revenue.

* October: Hell in a Cell: 210,000 buys in 2010, 182,000 buys in 2011 (-28,000)
* October: Vengeance/Bragging Rights: 137,000 buys in 2010, 121,000 buys in 2011 (-16,000)
* November: Survivor Series: 244,000 in 2010, 281,000 in 2011 (+37,000)
* December: TLC: 195,000 in 2010, 179,000 in 2011 (-16,666)

* 2010 buys: 786,000
* 2011 buys: 763,000

That is a drop of 23,000 PPV buys in the quarter. The above-mentioned offset was 33,000 PPV buys of PPV from the previous quarter.

The top five PPVs for the year were:

* WrestleMania 28 - 1,059,000 buys
* Royal Rumble - 446,000 buys
* Summerslam - 296,000 buys
* Survivor Series - 281,000 buys
* Extreme Rules - 209,000 buys

Money in the Bank not being in the top five is a sham. Way to go wrestling fans, WWE does something good and you fuckers no sell.

And the SS buyrate increase means this "Miz being punished" stuff has to be bullshit. It makes absolutely ZERO sense now.

MITB is the first WWE PPV I have ever ordered personally using my own money. Now, it's not even in the top 5? I swear that would have been #2.

All the WWE fans that didn't order the PPV because they didn't want to, fuck you. Fuck you up your stupid ass.

I don't see why that should matter. Rumble had 4 matches and didn't have the fantastic build-up that MITB did.

I'm not saying its was logical. It's just why I think. I guess people didn't care about the divas match. They didn't think that big show and mark Henry could put on a good match. They didn't care about orton/Christian anymore because it had happened three times already. They didn't care who won MITB as long as it was a worthy superstar

You left out Punk/Cena which is why I bought the show in the first place. I think that the WWE fans who were ABLE TO PAY should have supported the company at the time and paid for the show just for that match alone. They would have gotten their moneys worth. I know I fucking did.

... I left out punk/Cena because I couldn't come up with a reason why people wouldnt want to see it. I was proving that people aren't going to buy a pay per view based on one match

Well they should. After seeing the match and the entire PPV itself considering every match was either good to fantastic, they probably regretted not buying it. Fuckers.

I agree completely. People need to have faith. You see the raw ratings. Sometimes 500,000 people drop out of a segment if your a wrestling fan then you should watch the whole show. Jesus fucking Christ. MITB was built up amazingly yet people still had a lack of faith. And the PPV delivered. Dumb shitheads
