In an interview with E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness podcast (via IWNerd.com), Sami Zayn revealed the advice that Vince McMahon gave him that helped with his current heel run. Instead of playing an angry heel, Sami has made himself obnoxious, including doing a sarcastic form of his entrance dance in Shane McMahon’s face this past Tuesday on Smackdown Live. Here are highlights:

On his relationship with Vince McMahon: “My interactions with Vince have been a little more limited because I haven’t been in as many prominent storylines. Now this is something that I feel like he has sunk his teeth into. Just to get to pick his brain a tiny bit about how he views the character.”

On how Vince helped him: “He didn’t even get into detail. Some of it he would just say smile out there. I’m like really? Smile? And then I would do it and I’m like oh man, of course… It’s so much more heat than just going out there and scowling and being like: ‘you did me wrong’, yeah whatever, you’re angry, cool. Everyone is angry. But if you are smiling, it is so much more obnoxious and so much more dislikeable. It is such a simple thing. Once you execute it and it works, it’s just another light bulb that goes off.”

It kinda sounded like it's something reasonable but either it is not or Sami is terrible at acting as he looked awkward in that segment.

I think that was solid advise for Vinny on this one. Not everyone should make a total 180 when they turn.

Some of the best heels out there basically just dialed up their existing character.

Yeah he's still basically just being himself still but with a bit of a twist to it with who he's going after and the stuff he's saying. I've enjoyed some of what I seen so far and can't wait to see what else they do with it.

Sami isn't an intimidating person...obnoxious/annoying was the obvious route to go
