Re: Indy Tidbits, Rumors & General Discussion

Pro Wrestling Syndicate is running Jushin Liger vs. John Morrison on Wrestlemania weekend.

What a strange little match that is.

Re: Indy Tidbits, Rumors & General Discussion

This seems worth noting: the first HD/3D TV taping in pro wrestling.

Re: Indy Tidbits, Rumors & General Discussion

In what may not seem like big news but is actually the biggest thing to happen all weekend, Austin Aries helped Grizzly Redwood shave his tremendous and legendary beard! This comes as a result of Grizz reportedly being fired by ROH for an incident that happened with Charlie Haas prior to Haas retiring.

DGUSA results from tonight as well:

The following results are from a recent Dragon Gate USA internet pay-per-view event. The event took place on April 6th, 2013 at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Singles Match
Rich Swann defeated Brian Kendrick.

6 Way Freestyle Match
Anthony Nese defeated Arik Cannon, Chuck Taylor, Fire Ant, Jigsaw and Shane Strickland.

Singles Match
Scott Reed (w/Larry Dallas) defeated Derek Ryze.

Singles Match
Trent Barretta defeated Jon Davis via disqualification.

Tag Team Match
Eita & Tomahawk TT defeated The Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno & Player Dos).

Singles Match
Ricochet defeated Akira Tozawa (w/Christina Von Eerie).

Singles Match
Uhaa Nation defeated Sami Callihan.

Open The United Gate Championship Match
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) defeated AR Fox & CIMA to become the new Tag Team Champions.

Open The Freedom Gate Championship Match
Johnny Gargano (c) defeated Shingo Takagi.

Apparently the main event was amazing ended with Gargano cheating to win and really pissing off the crowd.

It doesn't exist when you work for a company that's owned by a publicly traded company.

Freedom of speech still exists Swamps, but along with that comes the consequences of being free to say what you want.

I see what you guys are saying. I agree he shouldn't make those comments being in the position he is in... About a sensitive group of peopke. However, its ok to insult other groups who won't make such a huge deal. Jack Swagger comes to mind. Latinos seem to cry far less than the rainbow community.

However, he gets props from me for having the balls to speak his mind. Afterall he is entitled to his opinion such as we all are.

This is actually an interesting point. WWE are allowed to have a borderline racist act on TV, but it's ok because they're "telling stories". Jay Briscoe gives his personal opinion on something and everyone is up in arms.

Except the story they tell, a Mexican who's made it in America and defeats the xenophobic heel, has a happy ending. Is Jay Briscoe going to lose the RoH Title to one of the Fun Athletic Guys?

I'd actually watch that, so they should probably book it.

Also, I'm sure somewhere in the indy world The Briscoes vs Goldust and Rico is being plotted for real and will be magnificent for the 20 people that see it.

Re: Independent Wrestling Discussion

What the hell is going on with Indy wrestling this year?

First CHIKARA "shuts down" following their last iPPV, now ROH has decided to go off the damn rails again.

First they're stopping iPPV because they can't get their shit together (despite smaller companies with less income having no issues whatsoever)

- Ring of Honor has decided to put an end to their live iPPV broadcasts. As you may have read, the promotion has more issues with the live streaming of "Best in the World" over the weekend which is just the latest in a long line of streaming issues that the promotion has had, both with in-house iPPVs and through third parties. The promotion will instead make the PPVs available through Video On Demand the day after the live event.

The promotion issued the following statement to PWInsider:

This past weekend at "Best in the World" in Baltimore, MD , Ring of Honor proved once again from top to bottom why our talent is truly the best in wrestling today. Unfortunately, there were some issues with the live iPPV stream that wound up distracting from the energy and action in ring. For this, we sincerely apologize to all fans that encountered problems.

Because of how much we value the support of our fans, and understand the imperfections of the live streaming technology, "Best in the World" will be the last iPPV stream that we will be broadcasting live. All future main event shows will now be offered as a Video On Demand, which will allow Ring of Honor to present a flawless show and truly depict the excellence of our product.

From now on, fans can watch ROH Wrestling on TV, VOD, or DVD, however there is still nothing like seeing Ring of Honor in person. We thank you for your continued support and are excited to be moving forward.

411mania

And now this has come out (may or may not be confirmed yet, but wouldn't surprise me).

All signs are pointing that Mark and Jay Briscoe have wrestled for the last time in Ring of Honor. Yes, that Jay Briscoe, the ROH World Champion.

Ring of Honor did not have Mark Briscoe appear on the TV taping on Sunday. They ran an angle that he had been injured the night before against Jay Briscoe leading to Kevin Steen getting involved in the Steel Cage Warfare match that was the main event of the tapings and what ROH built up to in thr 4 weeks of TV. However, Ring of Honor also did an angle where, after defeating Matt Hardy, to retain the ROH Championship, Jay Briscoe was attacked by Hardy and Steve Corino and a couple of other heels and laid out and beaten down..pretty much destroyed and it was described to be as a heavy, heavy, heavy angle.

And in speaking to a number of Ring of Honor sources, over the last 12 hours or so, that was the last scheduled appearance for either Briscoe brother for the forseeable future. There is talk they may be departing the company and at the very least they will be on a hiatus for some time. This has nothing to do with the Jay Briscoe Twitter incident, it was something arranged way prior to this PPV & TV taping. The story making the rounds is that they were leaving for greener pastures, but they may not be leaving. At the very least they will be on a hiatus and what the hell this means for the ROH Championship, your guess is as good as mine. Common sense would dictate that Briscoe will be stripped of the belt if he is not coming back or if he's going to be on an extended hiatus, similar to TNA stripping Rob Van Dam of his championship in 2010.

PWInsider

*shakes head in disbelief*

Honestly can't see any positive in following ROH right now.

Re: Independent Wrestling Discussion

The thing with RoH that I don't understand is how they can possibly be having issues with their iPPV's? Sinclair has more than a billion dollars in assets and should surely be able to pony up enough dough to make sure they run smoothly, the fact that they don't is pretty telling as to how they feel about the commodity that they own. In the meantime, I stopped watching RoH awhile back, but the Briscoe story is simply bizarre and unless its part of a major angle, just smacks of stupidity on RoH's part.
