“Final Battle 2010” (replay available here http://www.gofightlive.tv/Events/Fight/Wrestling/ROH_Final_Battle_2010/807) on December 18, 2010 will be a day that forever lives on in the minds of the ROH faithful if for no other reason than it brought an end to the ROH career of “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen at the hands of his former friend, former championship tag partner, El Generico. It was the culmination of a year of betrayal, brutality, blood, and mind games. A year that saw both men pushed to the edge, or in the case of Steen completely over that edge, and brought out a side of Generico…Darkness Generico if you will…that we have never seen before, and may never see again. And while it may be sad to think of how low things sunk before that fateful chair brought it to an end, it’s now time for the survivor to stand tall and look to his future.

What does that future hold for El Generico? It holds a shot at the ROH World Title on January 28th when Ring of Honor returns to Los Angeles to take part in “Wrestlereunion 5”!

“If any man earned a shot through sheer blood and sweat, I’d be hard pressed to find a more deserving challenger than El Generico” stated Executive Producer Jim Cornette, “What that man went through at Final Battle, hell through all of 2010, showed he had the heart and guts to be a champion. Now he’s got his opportunity to prove he’s worthy of holding the belt when he faces either Roderick or Jay Briscoe in the City of Angels!”

January 28th will mark almost 2 years to the date since Generico last challenged for the ROH World Title (vs. Nigel McGuiness on 1/31/09 to be exact), and with that last year spent fighting and bleeding, a pure wrestling bout will be a welcome change of pace for The Generic Luchador. Still that same year has brought a part of Generico to the surface that may just be the key to holding singles gold. So be it Roderick Strong or Jay Briscoe, whom ever comes into Los Angeles as the ROH World Champion better be prepared to face a Generico unlike any they have ever experienced before.

should be a great match, as much as I would love to see Generico hold the title I don't want it right now, maybe in later on in 2011 but right now ITS RODDYS TIME.
