Daniel Cormier will not be fighting Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante next after all.

Instead, Cormier (14-0) will face Dan Henderson (30-11) on July 5 at UFC 175, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. The promotion is expected to announce the news in the coming days.

On last week's episode of "UFC Tonight," it was reported that Cormier vs. Cavalcante was being discussed for the event -- and it was -- however, the promotion decided to offer Henderson the Cormier fight following his thrilling comeback win over Shogun Rua on March 23. Had Henderson turned down the fight for whatever reason, the UFC most likely would have booked Cormier vs. Cavalcante.

The fight will pit two former Olympians. Cormier, a 2004 and 2008 member of the USA Wrestling Olympic team, improved to 14-0 in his light heavyweight debut last month when he defeated Patrick Cummins via first-round TKO.

The 43-year-old Henderson, a 1992 and 1996 member of the USA Wrestling Olympic team, snapped a three-fight losing streak when he defeated Rua last week.

UFC 175, headlined by Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida for the UFC middleweight title, will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Cormier should smash him to be honest or at least he should dominate the fight. No embracing the grind please.

I dunno man. I know Cormier has the speed advantage over Hendo... but Hendo is still extremely durable. He still has wrestling. Plus... he could possibly catch Cormier with that H-Bomb.

I think it could be a pretty competitive fight.

Winner gets a title shot apparently, must mean Zuffa thinks Cormier has this in the bag. Would love to see Hendo fuck up all their plans again.

But I hope for a "H-Bomb".

That would be so nice. Cause if Hendo were to win you already know Dana is going to be backing up like... oh well it was only if Cormier won he got a shot. Hendo has to have another fight to prove he deserves a shot.

So this is now allegedly being slated for UFC 173 to replace the JDS/Miocic fight providing Hendo gets cleared although if he doesn't they're considering putting Bader in place of Hendo.

So many fucking shuffles.

Bader still employed? Learned something today, also all these shuffles are going to confuse fans and piss them off.

I'm already irritated cause I don't know what fight is happening where and I want to know which cards are worth watching and which ones to not care about.

Has Bader even fought since Machida dismantled him?

3 times, 2-1 since the Machida fight.

He defeated Vladimir Matyushenko in about 50 seconds.

He lost to Glover Teixeira.

His last fight was a complete domination of Anthony Perosh.

Javier Mendez AKA Head coach stated on the MMA Hour that "to his knowledge" the Cormier / Henderson fight is a go at 173 even though it's not officially announced. I'm honestly shocked Henderson is taking this fight since he took some big shots just last month against Shogun. I heard Bader might be in the "waiting" if Henderson has to pull out for whatever reason.
