WS Fantasy Basketball 2014-15

Here we go again about to have out 6th fantasy basketball league. Renewed the league and sent emails to everybody who was in the league before. Any changes to the league or whatever can be discussed and worked out here. Seemed like a lot of you guys wanted the league to be at 12 instead of 14 if you still feel that way let it be known if you think it should be 14 still let that be known as well.

Never get a fully active 14, just silly to do the same thing and hope for a different result. Forum isn't even as heavily active as past times. And even the full time members have all grown up some and got other things on their plates

Yeah it'll probably be 12 by default but just in case put it out there in case we have more than 12 teams interested. Last year was actually close to having all the teams active. Aid kept up with his team except for that one week where he was gone and KOK ended up coming along but it was too late at that point. Also another thing to be addressed is if everyone wants to do what we did last year without the TREB or add it back.

Is the 30th a set date, just weird to be on a Tuesday IMO at 8:15? Why not the Sunday night before?

Ladies and gentlemen,

It’s been a long strange two years. I’ve learned a lot from all of you. I’ve - oh god, wait a second, I’ve been doing this for five fucking years? Jesus christ. Okay.

It’s been a long strange five years. When I started out in the WS/WCF/TWC/OBGYN/howmanygoddamnnamesdidthissitehave fantasy basketball league, I was a young man. Over the years, I’ve made some bad trades and some questionable pickups but I never stopped having fun.

You’ve all been fantastic leaguemates, and it’s been a pleasure to play fantasy basketball with you. No, that’s not right.

Most of you have been fantastic leaguemates, and I’ve tolerated your posts for years. No, still too nice.

PHX is okay and GA’s funny every once in a while.

I’ve spent the last few months thinking about my future in spending way too much of my time debating whether to pick up Jordan Crawford while my fiancee rolls her eyes at me. “You spend too much time looking at that stuff,” she’ll say. “We don’t do things together as much as we should,” she’ll say. “We’re at a funeral, I think that trade offer can wait,” she’ll say. And she’s right. We were at a funeral. I think it was her aunt’s, or possibly Andrew Bynum’s. I’m not good with details.

Anyway, the reason for this post: it is at this time with a heavy heart that I must announce my retirement from fantasy basketball.

My love for my family and the need to be there for them outweighs my desire to play this game any longer. I have missed too many experiences with them because I devoted SO much time to my career. My love for the game isn’t strong enough to make up for missing one more birthday or first day of school. I am retiring as a man who is truly grateful for all of his blessings.

Okay, that last paragraph was James Harrison’s retirement announcement. Fuck that guy, right? But the point remains, I’ve got a little too much on my plate between work and my family to commit myself to daily roster watching and gif posting. Those shitty waiver guys will just have to stay on waivers now. My apologies especially to Boris Diaw and Vince Carter.

I ask you not to mourn my loss but to celebrate the fact that one of your own will attempt to have a real life. And please do not fret - I will be checking in on you guys throughout the season and hopefully beyond. After all, PSYCH’s not going to call himself a blueberry. Brandon will need someone really white he can call the N-Word. Showtime will need to be convinced he’s successfully trolling someone. IYF might also be there (he doesn’t post much, sorry).

My only regret is that I couldn't win even a single championship from you rubes. Fucking christ. Oh also, probably trading Cosuins for Kobe last year.

It only seems fitting that I make this announcement now, just days after reports have come out that Rajon Rondo has asked to be traded. If the greatest player in the history of professional basketball is ready to move on from its greatest franchise, then why can’t I move on from even the greatest fantasy basketball league?

In closing, it’s been a fun five years. If any of you wants to pay me any kind of tribute, just do this - whenever you see a shooting star, go fuck yourselves.

Saddest day in the history of this league was hoping you were sticking around but I'm not surprised at all. You'll definitely be missed but should still stop by in the thread every now and then.

Nah I just put it just to put a date the draft date isn't set in stone right now we'll figure out what works best for everyone.

damn, it's unfortunate to be losing one of the top teams, and characters in the league(even if i was like the only one not to get a name drop in the speech). 5 years is an era though... things change, and people are gonna drop. at least now that sals gone, the lime green cherished chucker uniforms will be back intact. if donning the pride of a city doesn't make u want it, nothing will. being titleless gonna get a fix in year 6.
