I like Oney for the same reasons I like Sheamus; he’s stiff as fuck. Sure he’s generic but he’s fun to watch. That tag match against Era is great

TONIGHT: RODDY/ROODE - WORLD TITLE MATCH!

Earlier Today: Roderick Strong in his best suit arrived with Fiancee, baby Troy, and Momma Strong.

Kassius OhNo & Hideo Itami vs. SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe & Killian Dain)
Solid stuff here, team strike force use their superior striking and experience to beat up Wolfe to start the match, but a Dain distraction allows Wolfe to hang Hideo up over the top rope to take over. Most of the heat gets cut, but what's shown is solid heel stuff, ring gets cut off as they work the neck. Awesome bit of storytelling/angle advancement is Ohno getting distracted with Wolfe getting off the apron so he misses his chance to get the hot tag, so it forces Hideo to his own hot tag and he refuses to tag out now. He hits the Falcons Arrow, but Dain breaks up the cover with a back senton. OhNo gets in to talk to Hideo but he doesn't see Wolfe coming who takes him out with a big boot, that leaves Hideo for the 2-1. He hits the GTS on Wolfe but Dain blind tags in and hits the running crossbody for the win. **1/4

Earlier Today at today, NXT debuts that corny media interview deal like the NBA, NFL and NHL players do post-game. They talk to Ember Moon about her return. One "reporters" ask now that she's cleared to return is she confident to challenge Asuka? Moon says during her time away she's taken the time to get into the practice rings, going to the gym, watching footage and she is ready to earn another title match. Ruby Riot comes over and says, Ember has had a shot, Cross has had her shot. It's her time now.

A recap of Asuka/Cross last week airs.

Backstage: Christy on his thoughts on Roddy/Roode tonight, he says he expects a fantastic match tonight, but he can assure her the next time they have this convo, they won't be talking about somebody else's title match. If you look at the list of former NXT champions, when they won the title the world pointed at them and said "that's the guy who will lead this industry" And that's why he chose NXT. Christy brings up Dain also wanting to be champion, Drew says it doesn't matter who, cause all roads lead to HIM becoming NXT World champion.

Awesome video package of Ciampa turning on Gargano at Chicago.

Gargano returns next week.

Earlier Today Kayla interviews the Iconic Due, Peyton says they feel hurt, disrespected because it way Kay's birthday recently and no one got her a gift. In the background that BAD BITCH is yelling at Almas. Kay yells she just wants cake and leaves. Kayla goes over to Almas and he yells "SHE'S LOCA"

Apparently, Last Week Bianca Belair and Alyiah had a qualifying match for the Mae Young Classic, but I'm guessing it was so bad they edited it out (On a side note, I will be watching the tournament as I've never seen it)

The awesome Roddy/Roode video package airs again.

FUCK YEAH! YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS!!!!!

Backstage: Kayla asks Roddy what's on his mind going into the biggest match of his life.....And Roddy says "Victory" before making his entrance.

Backstage: Kayla asks Bobby on his thoughts on his upcoming title defense, Roode says Roddy has been living a fairytale the past couple of weeks, but tonight he steps in the ring against reality.

Roode wearing the Black/Gold robe :mark:

NXT World Championship: Roderick Strong vs. Bobby Roode
This has such a huge classic old school fight feel to it, with the babyface family guy vs. the arrogant cocky world champion. And they absolutely hate one another. I'm not even gonna get mad that both guys are in black trunks cause they've been wearing black since their debut. Awesome opening couple of minutes, with Roode using his weight advantage to keep Roddy grounded in a headlock but he gets too cocky attempting the "GLORIOUS" taunt, which allows Roddy to light his chest up with chops, awesome the Roddy doesn't let up even when Roode goes to the floor for a breather, Roddy is right with him now allowing him to regroup. Well, he does it once until Drake stops him going after Roode after hitting a backbreaker. Back from break, Roode suckers Roddy into the corner and hits the blockbuster to take over. He briefly works the knee, but then stops to chop Roddy out of revenge. That allows Roddy to go on a brief run, they then do this tremendous spot with Roddy's hurt knee getting caught in between the steps/ring-post/ring apron. Roode sees it and kicks the steps into the knee, now Roode goes after the knee fully and pretty much takes all Flair/Bret/HHH/Bryan's knee work and applies it here so it rules. AWESOME Roddy selling, as the match goes longer Roddbarelybarley stand, constant limping even when running the ropes. But I will say most of Roddy's offense is used with his legs, e.g. backbreakers, high knees so we get the brief moments of no sell but I'll let it slide as he goes right back to selling the knee after. Roode keeps going back to the knee to slow everything down, but as the match goes along he begins getting too cocky and that keeps allowing Roddy to have these awesome brief flurry of combos or high impact matches to get him back into it. But they do the deal with everytime Roddy hits one of those big moves, Roode keeps rolling to the floor. It's such an amazing heel thing, and it's really the best thing about Roode world title run so far, that and his big match bumping. Another great spot is Roddy going for the high knee, but Roode avoids and it almost hit the ref but it doesn't, that allows Roode to hit the Glorious DDT for a two count. Roode begins getting angry and takes too much time taunting RODDY WIFE WHICH ALLOWS RODDY TO HIT THE HIGH KNEE, SIDE SLAM, END OF HEARTACHE AND COVERS FOR THE WIN.......................................BUT ROODE'S FOOT WAS UNDER THE BOTTOM ROPE! Roddy doesn't see it and begins celebrating with wife, but Drake comes over to tell him. As Roddy is getting back onto the apron, Roode shoves him off the apron with Roddy's knee hitting the rails. Roode then picks him back up and hits the DDT right in front of Roddy wife. He rolls him back in and hits the another one, and covers for the win. WOW! I forgot how much I loved this, everything fell into place. NXT right now is at its peak. ****

After the match; Roode blows a kiss at Roddy's wife cause he's a dick.

Aleister Black vs. Bobby Fish
And the trips purge on the indies continues, I totally forgot UE all came in separately. Muro calling Fish Roderick Strong 20 seconds into the match :lmao Anyway, they have a really cool MMA/Kickboxing feeling out process before doing one of those movie choreographed fight exchanges, it doesn't come off as natural tho. Fish takes over with a leg sweep from the floor and begins working the knee, but it's spotty and so is Black's selling. It's NO Roddy/Roode I can tell you that. Fish eventually drops all the knee work to attempt a sleeper, before they go back and forth trading big moves for near falls. Fish begins getting cocky and starts taunting which opens the door for Black to make a comeback, he hits a sick leaping knee to the jaw and follows up with the Black Mass for the win. **

Recap of Hideo/Ohno friction from last weeks airs.

WWE.com EXCLUSIVE, Hideo blames Ohno for the loss, Ohno says all Hideo has done since Chicago is blame other people for his losses, he's gone out of his way to help him. But, now, he's done. He's about action and leaves.

RED CUP BOYZ COMING SOON!

WWE.com EXCLUSIVE from 2 weeks ago :lmao V.Dream is leaving the building with his little purple suitcase when Kayla asks him a question, but he cuts her off and says he's not like other superstars and this isn't the right setting.

Mae Young Classic Qualifying Match: Vanessa Borne vs. Jayme Hachey
Venessa is like early Layla El lite but not even close to her hotness. This is rough, it's two green girls so it's lots of bad offense, bad bumping, and not much selling. Bourne hits a mix of a blackhole slam/sidewalk slam for the win.

FAN CAM FOOTAGE! Shows Wolfe and Dain attacking Drew in the parking lot.

Backstage: GM Regal is with Bobby Roode, he convinces Regal to book a Drew vs. Dain #1 Contenders Match for next week.

Johnny Gargano makes his return, he says he's been gone for a little bit and them and this ring is irreplaceable, he says whenever he heard the DIY music it meant the fans were gonna get something special. But they all saw what happen at Chicago. And just like them, he never saw it coming, he never thought the guy he was willing to take a bullet for would be the 1 to pull the trigger. He's thought about it, and asked why? he doesn't get it or understand and don't think he ever will. So it's time to move forward. Sometimes in life things happen that you can't control, but what you can control is how you react to them. I'm standing right here, and need to get back to what he loves to do. TakeOver Brooklyn is the biggest show of the year, and he needs to be on the show. NEW AWFUL GARGANO MUSIC DEBUTS! Shit sounds like one of those Japanese Anamie teenage girl intros, terrible.

NEXT WEEK: Drew/Dain & Ember/Riot

k7Jwu8v.png

NXT World Tag Team Championships: Heavy Machinery vs. The Authors of Pain (w/Paul Ellering)
This really had no business being this good, but it's fucking enjoyable as hell. It's 4 big guys that shouldn't be moving so fast hitting one another even harder. They do the traditional big man stuff but NXT is just in that groove where everything is just clicking. AoP take over after Akam pulls the top rope down sending "ALL NIGHT" Tucker Knight to the floor hard, they work the neck and it's okay you know, AoP can't really get into their awesome squash offense as they're the smaller men, so they pretty much work headlocks and punches to fill the time. Otis has a dope hot tag, his punches need to be tightened up but seeing him belly to belly AoP like kids ruled. The match breaks down, and AoP uses their big match experience to throw Otis out and hit Tucker with the last chapter for the win. **

After the match; as AoP celebrate.............But, SAnitY comes out onto the stage. PAGES OF A BOOK BEGIN FALLING FROM THE RAFTERS! GET IT Paul Ellering keeps preaching about this book of dominance, but Sanity has ripped it up. TripsGod in his zone right now.

Ember Moon vs. Ruby Riot
I'm guessing this is one of those unofficial #1 Contenders matches, as they don't want to have 2 on the same night. They immediately go into a roll-up sequence to start the match, which is a nice change from the norm this year. I also like from that they do a bunch of lucha counter wrestling before settling down with both girls get a good amount of offense on one another, but neither can really maintain control or put a string of offense together. Back from break, Ruby hits a back senton off the top for two. Moon avoids a running punt and counters into a sidewalk slam, she tries to go up top but Riot cuts her off. They battle up top, with Riot hitting the frankensteiner for two. MOON THEN KILLS HER WITH A ROLLING PUNCH and follows up with with a sick shotgun kick. She ends up hitting the eclipse for the win like a minute later. **1/2

Earlier Today, a "reporter" asks Ohno how this run compares to his first one, Ohno says there are so many new faces. HIDEO THEN COMES OVER AND ASKS IF HE ASKED FOR THIS MATCH! OhNo says yes, so Hideo begins speaking in Japanese. He leaves but first kicks a trashcan over.

NEXT WEEK, OHNO VS. HIDEO :mark:

RED CUP BOYZ ARE COMING!

Oney Lorcan vs. Danny Burch
We're here :mark: Slow feeling out process, UNTIL BURCH DECKS ONEY IN THE FACE to take over, now the match really begins. Burch busts out the tower of London for a near fall, but can't follow up which allows Oney to hit a nasty running blockbuster. Oney then hits one of his sick running uppercuts which busts Burch's nose open just like Hideo's. They begin stiffing the fuck out of one another with uppercuts, and open palm strikes. But Burch snaps of a flash powerbomb for two. Burch goes for an exploder off the top but Oney shoves him off the top and does the Lance Storm roll into the half Boston crab for the win. **3/4

O1twPNS.gif

After the match; Both men shake hands, and Burch asks for the rematch. Oney accepts :mark:

No Way Jose vs. Cezar Bononi
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT! WHY IS THIS USELESS CUNT STILL HERE? FUCK OFF ALREADY! Jose wins, fuck him.

Almas then comes through the crowd with his BAD BITCH! And attacks Cezar, in revenge for that L he took a couple of months ago. Jose then runs back for the save.

#1 Contender for the NXT Championship: Drew McIntyre vs. Killian Dain
This gets 10 minutes, it's very hard hitting and for the most part is a good match. Dain's control is one of his better ones but it goes on far too long, there is only so I want to watch a neck vice grip before getting tired of it. Drew hits a running LigerBomb which sets up his big comeback, he then uses Fit's Celtic Cross aka the air raid crash for a two count. Drew tires the Claymore Kick but Dain counters into a senton and hits the Vader Bomb for two. They exchange near falls until DREW hits the future shock, but Dain kicks out at one. Drew then follows up with a nasty Claymore Kick, BUT DAIN GETS UP! Drew follows with a 2nd and covers for the win. **1/4

Ember Moon vs. Lei'd Tapa
Quick Moon showcase, Eclipse ends it.

Moon yells she wants Asuka at TakeOver Brooklyn.

It's supposed to be David Ramos & Timothy Bumpers vs. The Authors of Pain, but Cross comes out and stops AoP on the ramp so SANitY can come through the crowd and attack the negro jobbers. AoP then walk past her and join SAnitY for an in-ring brawl. AoP gets the better so Sanity bail out.

RED CUP BOYZ COMING SOON!

Earlier Today, No Way is walking to the PC when he bumps into Vega, she says she admires him stepping up and doing the right thing but he's lit a fire under Almas, a fire he won't be able to dance around.

The Velveteen Dream vs. Cezar Bononi
Quick Dream showcase, Purple Rain Maker ends it.

After the match; Kayla joins Dream on the ramp, she asks him what his goals are. But he looks completely disgusted and he asks her what her goals are? Maybe a decently dressed girl like her, maybe. But in front of the ugliness that is the fans. Her Velveteen Dream Experience will have to wait.

Backstage: Christy asks GM Regal about his thoughts on what Ember said earlier, he says he believes Moon is ready and books Asuka/Moon at Brooklyn.

Drew McIntyre comes down to the ring, he says in 1 months time it will be Bobby vs. Him, he thanks everyone for coming along on his ride. He says usually this is the part where people reflect, but he doesn't have a backward button, he only goes forward. And he learned to go forward the hard ways. From when he first showed up in the WWE as the "Chosen One" he expected everything to be handed to him, and when he wasn't the hardest worker in the room he failed and it took him leaving to understand. Now he's the hardest worker in the damn world. The more he grew, and companies grew it wasn't because of him it was a group effort and that's why he signed here. We all walk side-by-side, except 1 person. Bobby Roode. He says looking into Roode's eyes is an entitlement, this isn't Roode's NXT, this is our NXT.

Hideo Itami vs. Kassius OhNo
This gets a little close to 10 minutes, and it's the theme of 2017 NXT. Hard hitting, nasty sounding strikes. With the shorter time they skip the traditional, show respect early and let the tension build, they go right into to punching, slapping, elbowing, chopping and kicking the shit out of one another and it ruled. Hideo briefly works the neck with holds, but it comes off more he's only doing it so Ohno can't strike him instead of feeling it as his weak spot, Ohno doesn't really sell it either so it serves no purpose. Ohno makes a nice comeback and busts out a fucking shine wizard before hitting a sweet rolling big boot for two. He follows up with a back senton, but Hideo kicks out. Hideo avoids the corner charge and hits a spinning kick to set up the corner running dropkick. He picks him up for the GTS, but Ohno shoves him off and comes right back with a big boot. BUT HIDEO THE KICKS HIM IN THE DICK FOR THE DQ. **3/4

After the match; Hideo continues to kick away at Ohno in the corner, before dropping him with the GTS. Ohno doesn't go down, so Hideo drops him with another. He then goes to leave, but comes back and drops him face first onto the steel steps to end the show.

Cryme Tyme was charasamatic too but I think SP got them beat.

NXT Episode 259
August 2nd, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

Johnny Gargano comes out to his awful Japanese anime teenage theme music, it's really one of the worse songs in NXT history.

Johnny Gargano vs. Raul Mendoza
Entertaining Johnny Wrestling showcase, he does all his fast-paced indy wrestling that the crowd eats up, but it really lacks focus, Raul has a good showing too, a couple of nice kicks and strikes. Gargano locks in the Gargano escape for the win. **1/4

SAnitY/AoP is now booked for Brooklyn III

NXT Woman's champion, Asuka comes down to the ring. She says at TakeOver Brooklyn she will fight Ember Moon for her title, she's beaten her before and will do it again, again. Ember is NOT READY FOR ASUKA! Ember comes out now, she says ever since Orlando she's done everything to get back to where she belonged. And she can say she's not ready, but she and all these people know she's ready. Ember says deep down inside Asuka knows the truth, the truth is Asuka isn't ready for Ember Moon. Asuka backs up and offers the handshake......................BUT ASUKA SIKES HER OUT AND SLAPS THE SHIT OUT OF HER :mark: Ember then snaps and they begin brawling, Asuka being the better striker wins and throws Moon to the floor so she can taunt. BUT SHE TURNS HER BACK TO MOON, WHO RECOVERS AND HITS THE ECLIPSE. Moon then looks down at the woman's title but has to stop herself from touching it because she hasn't earned it.

Backstage: A Cameraman asks Roode about his actions after his win against Roddy, Roode brings up the Lottery promo again. He says not only did he win, but proved he is a better man, and Roddy proved he doesn't belong in his NXT. Cameraman brings up Drew, Roode says Drew likes to say he's a "changed man" And maybe he is, I have no idea. Roode then suggests he, Roddy and Drew have a sit down next week. Suddenly, Roddy rushes over to attack Roode but other wrestlers stop it. Regal comes over and Roddy says he disrespected his family and says he will do anything to get his hands on Roode 1 more time. Regal says his hands are tied and can't change the match.

RED CUP BOYZ!

Jenna Van Bemel vs. Sonya Deville
Quick Sonya showcase.

Backstage: Kayla asks Hideo why he attacked Ohno last week, Hideo says nobody seems to be giving him the RESPECT! He deserves, so why should he show respect? Kayla cuts him off so, Hideo takes the mic and comes out to the ring speaking Japanese. He again repeats he deserves respect as the ref says he needs to leave for the next match, Hideo refuses to leave...............UNTIL ALEISTER BLACK'S MUSIC HITS! Black comes out as Hideo does the FAKE LEAVE, but tries to run up so Black drops him with the Black Mass.

Almas/Jose, Next Week.

Aleister Black vs. Kyle O'Reilly
Kyle is doing his "serious, babyface, MMA" nonsense so I hate him at the moment. Feeling out process is decent, lots of leg kicks, open palm strikes and both guys going for holds but the other had it scouted. Nigel and Maro have a field day dropping all the Japanese and Indy wrestling names that these guys "learned hold" from. Black briefly takes over with some nasty chest kicks, but Kyle comes back with a 6 stroke combo to takeover, he then does an arm breaker to set up a heel hook which is fucking crazy, and the heel hook doesn't even set up legwork, cause they then go in to the MMA sequence of Black being on his back, and Kyle kicking the legs not wanting to go to the mat, but he gets suckered in and Black locks in a triangle choke. They go back and forth trading holds and kicks, and the match really begins to drag at the 10-minute mark. The 2 breaks in between also really hurt the flow of this. So after all that arm and random hold stuff, Kyle now begins to work the arm, but like what's the point? Black doesn't sell, but he does have this awesome comeback tho, awesome spot, with Black going for a cape'rana but Kyle kicks he legs out from under him and hits the stomp to the back of the head, followed by an elbow for two. Kyle goes for it again, but Black avoids so they begin kicking one another in the head, but Black hits the Black Mass seemingly out of nowhere. Hard hitting, but a total mess of logical wrestling. **

NXT Episode 260
August 9th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

The show opens with Nikki Cross already in the ring, she's begins yelling for AoP. As SAnitY comes through the crowd to join her in the ring, AoP then comes down the ring..................BUT EY MAKES HIS RETURN AND ATTACKS REZAR ON THE RAMP! He zip ties him to one of the rails, as Sanity beats on Akam in the ring. Rezar then breaks off one of the rails but as soon as he makes it back to the ring, the numbers are too much for him too and Sanity leaves them for dead.

Next Week, Moon/Asuka have another contract signing. UGH!

Earlier Today the Iconic Onez were at the PC, they see Ruby Riot and make fun of her tattoos and face behind her back.

The Metro Brothers vs. Street Profits
HOLY SHIT! The Metro Bros just blatantly ripped off deuce and domino gimmick, but they got a fire theme so I'm not mad at it. But, I'm sure KIF was fuming. SP Negros perform every stereotypical Blackman antic in the 2 minutes of their entrance. Ford is clearly the star of this team and in 2019, when creative break them up, he's gonna be great on 205. SPs run through some solid double teams and end the match with Dawkins hitting D'Lo's lowdown and Ford hitting D'Lo's Frogsplash for the win lol.

EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE! Hideo tries to attack Black as he's leaving the building last week, but security breaks it up. Regal then books Black/Hideo @ Brooklyn.

GM Regal is in the ring for this promo-off between Drew and Bobby, both guys come out and Roode brings out her own "personal" security to stop Roddy from ruining his NXT. Roode says he wants to officially welcome him back, he brings up how Drew always felt entitled to stuff during his first, run kinda like how HE Roode feels entitled right now. Roode says unlike him, he doesn't need a 2nd chance, he's done everything he said he was gonna do, and that is why this is his NXT. Not Drew, the fans. Roode says Drew may have been christening the chosen one, but HE IS THE ONE! Drew says he's right, he's had a fantastic year but the big problem is he is a complete ASS! At first he thought this was a front, but it's not he believes his own hype and after all the flamboyance at Brooklyn ends he will be looking at the NEW NXT Champion. Roddy comes out onto the stage, he says he respects Regals rules but he wants it to be known he's not done with Roode. This isn't about the world title, it's about him disrespecting his family and manhood. Roddy says HE WANTS A FIGHT? Roode says he will fight him any day of the week and put his title on the line, but he has to go through Drew first. Next week, if he breaks Drew he'll give him a title match after Brooklyn, Regal tries to shut it down but Drew tells Regal to make the match. Regal makes it official :mark:

Backstage: Kayla asks Gargano what's his state of mind being back in NXT, he says he's good, he was a little nervous head out alone but thought of Brooklyn last year and that reaction sparked everything that happens the past year for him. Gargano says he hasn't missed a TakeOver and is issuing an open challenge to anyone.

Oney Lorcan vs. Danny Burch
MOTHERFUCK YES! REMATCH! This gets pretty close to 10 minutes. Slow feeling out process to start with neither guy wanting to rush in or make a mistake, so they reluctantly clean break until the ref has to force the other off. They eventually drop the games and begin stiff the other with nasty European uppercuts, and begin beating the shit out of one another. They do some building off the previous match with Oney having the Tower of London, and Half-and-half suplex scouted. So he has to utilize the Tower from off the middle rope in the middle of the ring instead of the corner. Burch also has Oney's running uppercut scouted so he has to hit it from different angles, they begin slugging it out until Oney goes for the half Boston but Burch won't let him apply it again, so Oney begins kicking him in the back of the head to soften him up to lock in a fall-Boston crab but Burch rolls through and pins Oney for the win. Series tied 1-1. **1/2

After the match, Burch offers the handshake, but Oney slaps his hand away. He goes to leave but rethinks and offers the handshake. Burch shakes it and holds the ropes for Oney to leave.

No Way Jose vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas (w/ Zelina Vega)
This gets 5 minutes or so, it's pretty much an angle match. Almas keeps doing the cocky stuff that been getting him into trouble but Vega keeps pulling him aside to get him to refocus. Jose isn't really the angle match guy especially with his babyface 101 and comedy routine stuff, it all comes off weird. He hits the hammerlock DDT via Vega's request and covers for the win. *1/2

After the match, Vega comes to the booth and tells the world Almas deserves the spotlight and accepts Gargano's challenge for Brooklyn :mark:

NXT Episode 261
August 16th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

TONIGHT: RODDY/DREW & Ruby/Kay

The show opens with NXT's favorite pastime, a contract signing. GM Regal brings out both Ember and Asuka. Ember says Asuka journey has been incredible and has been the most dominant champion in WWE. She mentions Asuka passing Goldberg's streak but says 1 thing sticks out, she's only taken shortcuts against her. She injured her and that was the biggest mistake of her life, and now she's stronger, faster and better than she's ever been and as her way of saying thank you she will end her at Brooklyn. They both sign the contract, and Asuka grabs a mic and begins yelling in Japanese.

A little Brooklyn hype video airs.

Backstage: GM Regal is talking to a cameraman when LARZ walks in, he says he knows he's been bad in the past, but he's asking for 1 more tag match. Regal says he doesn't need him attacking another man, Lars says it won't happen again IN THE RING! and Regal says he has 1 more chance.

Street Profits vs. Lars Sullivan & Chris Silvio
Lars tries to get Chris to stand on the apron so he can start, but Chris refuses and runs past him but runs into an AWESOME! Dawkins punch, it's the best thing Dawkins has ever done in a ring. SP hit all their double teams before hitting the Lo'Down/Frog splash combo for the win. Lars carries Silvo to the back post-match.

In the back, LARZ drags the jobber to outside the building and beats him up.

Billie Kay (w/Peyton Royce) vs. Ruby Riot
This is fine I guess, Kay can't really hang with the fast-paced roll-ups and counters so everything is mistimed and doesn't look smooth, but she calms down when its time for her to take over and does s decent job wearing Ruby down to pass time. Riot has a really good comeback, she kicks Peyton off the apron and hits the Pele kick for the win. *1/2

Peyton says all Ruby has done is prove lightning strikes once even for a gross tatted up freak like herself, and she will never be Iconic.

TakeOver HYPE
Almas/Johnny
Hideo/Black
Asuka/Moon
AoP/SAnitY
Drew/Roode

Roderick Strong vs. Drew McIntyre [If Roddy wins he gets a match against Roode for the NXT World Title after Brooklyn]
Drew uses his height and weight early so Roddy goes fast-paced, stick and move offense. Mauro tries to play off Drew as a better striker, but I don't see it, I would get if they said 50-50, but naw. Roddy hits the apron backdrop backbreaker as we go to break when we return Roddy continues back work, it's Roddy working the back he's been doing it for years so it's a good time, but what's really good is Roddy showing desperation and refusing to let up as he knows Drew is blocking his path to getting his hands on Roode. Drew's comeback is fine, he never comes off as a babyface to me, and especially now the way he's bulked up, mixed with him being the top heel on RAW. They go back and forth trading big moves and nasty strikes until Roddy blocks the superplex and crotches Drew, but Roode runs down and attacks both men for the No Contest. **1/2

Roode shoves Roddy of the top and begins doing his best 2004 Trips beatdown impersonation to the both of them, he whips Roddy into the steps and hits Drew with the Glorious DDT to end the show.

NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III
August 19th, 2017
Barclays Center: Brooklyn, New York

So instead of the usual corny trips spotlight promo, the show opens with a live song from the band "Code Orange" the song of Brooklyn III, I would have preferred if they got Hov and Wayne to do "Hello Brooklyn" or Fab, Hov, Unc Murda "Brooklyn"

Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas (w/Zelina Vega)
This rules, they have such amazing chemistry, good fast paced lucha/mat wrestling to start, all the transitions are smooth af before they make a nice transition to Almas taking over, he's more focused than he's been, and only does 1 "Tranquilo" pose. He targets the arm and it's fine, but it's the problem in today's wrestling and these two were you know it's doesn't mean anything, and Gargano isn't really a body part seller, he's tremendous at selling exhaustion or a beating and longer the match goes but body part not so much. Gargano does his usual dope comeback, he hits all his big spots and I ALREADY WANT TO DIE FROM THIS BULLSHIT 2SWEET CHANT! Fucking wrestling fans ruin everything. He hits this sweet slingshot DDT for two, Almas has the slingshot spear sets up and counters into a backbreaker followed by a reverse tornado DDT for two. Almas tries a superplex but Johnny fights him off, he tries a sunset flip bomb but Almas lands on his feet, he goes for the running knees but Johnny has it scouted, they then go on this awesome minute run stretch of countering the others big moves until Gargano locks in the stretch, but Almas picks him up with arm for the running buckle bomb. He follows up with the running knees but only gets two. Almas hits some brutal knees to the head, but takes too long which allows Johnny to hit back to back superkicks and HITS THE LUCKING LAWN DART INTO THE CORNER! He has him set up for the running superkick, but Vega throws a "DIY" t-shirt at him which distracts Gargano allowing Almas to hit a sick running dropkick and the Hammerlock DDT for the win. Dope shit, now I can't wait for 2018. ***1/4

In one of the skyboxes, Roddy is with Kurt Angle, while the Iconics are with Daniel Bryan. That loser No Way is also there.

For some reason, Cory Graves comes out to do commentary for the next match. Fucking 4 man booth. UGH!

NXT World Tag Team Championships: SAnitY (w/Nikki Cross) vs. The Authors of Pain (w/Paul Ellering)
AoP bull rushing the ring before the bell and brawl with Dain and Wolfe, all 4 brawls for a bit, with EY pulling out a table on the other side of the ring. They eventually get back and into the ring and the ref calls for the bell. They do the old switch making it seem like Dain was in the match, but before Dain officially tags in EY gets on the apron to tag the tag. The match breaks down again with all 4 brawling around ringside. For some reason they have EY get the better on Akam during the brawl, but when they get back to the ring AoP hit this awesome flip into a dominator to take over. Decent iso but EY really does nothing for as usual, and it being heel vs. heel so it really hurts this ALOT especially in a smarky loser wrestling venue look New York. Wolfe's not built for the hot tag, he has some awesome power stuff, but teams really need to either stop hittingGermanss so easily on AoP or at least make it look like it's a struggle, I low-key blame AAlpha for that. The match breaks down, with AoP going to a tower of doom spot, but Cross grabs a leg to block it. That allows EY to hit the big elbow off the top for two. Wolfe and EY both follow up with dives taking AoP out, Paul and Cross then get into in the ring, but the ref holds Paul back so Cross tries a dive onto Akam, he catches her in mid-air. BUT DAIN HITS THE FUCKING RUNNING CROSSBODY THROUGH THE TABLE. Back in the ring, Sanity hits the belly to back suplex followed by EY's neck breaker and become the first team to pin AoP for the win. Meh, new champs. **1/2

AFTER THE MATCH, BOBBY AND KYLE ATTACK BOTH AOP AND SANITY!

Neville, Nakamura, and Kalisto are all sitting in the crowd.

Jim Ross now comes out to call the next match, I have no idea why they would want to have JR call a Hideo/Black match, he seems more fitted for the tag one or the Main Event.

Code Orange come back out and play Blacks' theme song live, it's trash, way to ruin a top 3 song smh.

Hideo Itami vs. Aleister Black
FUCKING AWESOME OPENING 40 seconds, THEY COME RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE KICKING THE SHIT OUT OF ONE ANOTHER. I love the hate here, it's not a traditional WWE format, it's super stiff, full of kicks and knees, they skip the slow build and it's great. Hideo works the head and neck softening Black up for the GTS, but he's also slowly adding the heel stuff to his game. Poor guy, he does a couple of stiff kicks to the back, and aks the crowd if they want 1 more, but instead locks in a headlock. But these fucking morons from Brooklyn don't bite at all, it was dead silent, not even a single boo :lmao So Hideo takes out his frustrations on Black by kicking him directly in the nose and Black's nose is now bleeding, a couple more minutes he spends working the heck until Black kicks his way back into it, until Hideo hits a fisherman suplex for two. They trade some nasty strikes, like Hideo backhand pimp slap, but Black comes back with a roundhouse that Hideo doesn't get his hands up to block so it hits him right in the back on the head. Hideo hits a falcon's arrow off the top for two, before they go back to just beating the shit out of one another. Hideo loses focus by yelling "SHOW ME RESPECT" so, Black drops him with the Black Mass for the win. ***

Sasha, Bayley, and Becky are in the crowd to watch the greatest Woman's wrestler in history.

NXT Woman's Championship: Ember Moon vs. Asuka
Asuka is sitting at 504 days as champion, this is her 8th title match at a TakeOver, and now holds the record of 10 straight TakeOver matches. Another awesome hot start with Ember hitting a sneak shotgun superkick to start the match, and takes the fight like no one has to Asuka, maybe outside Nia. Asuka uses her resilience and suckers her in before slamming that previously injured arm into the steps to take over. He hits a fucking awesome hammerlock suplex to the steel ramp before rolling Moon into the ring working it over. It fucking rules, tons of joint manipulation, arm kicks and just finding ways to slam the shoulder into the mat. Yo I love watching this version of Asuka, she's at her peak of cockiness, one spot included she locks on an armbar and looks directly at the horsewoman like yeah, I'm better than all of you, but the cameraman also shoots it so it also looks like she's looking directly into the camera with that cocky yeah, I can do this all night. Awesome stuff. Moon' sells it the rest of the match which ruled, even during the comeback so she has to modify switch from throwing elbows to knees, it's a nice trick from Asuka as that's her game, so she suckers Moon into it. So, she can outhit Moon who's only working with one arm. Moon goes back to the aerial and power game and hits the Eclipse, BUT ASUKA IS THE FIRST TO KICK OUT! Moon goes for it again, but Asuka holds the ref in front of her to block it, so Moon hits a crossbody but Asuka rolls through and holds the tights, but the ref stops the count. That allows Moon to hit a flash superkick for two. Asuka is OUT! SO MOON HAS TROUBLE PICKER HER UP....................BUT ASUKA POPS UP AND LOCKS IN THE ASUKA LOCK AND MOON TAPS! BRUH! THIS FUCKIN RULED! ***1/2

jmFUpa3.gif

Asuka celebrates with her title and leaves, Moon then gets a standing ovation as she leaves.

Kevin Owens & Samoa Joe are in the front row.

Video package for the Main Event airs.

Drew gets an army of bagpipes and drums for his entrance.

Bobby gets the same piano graphic on the stage, but he's wearing another dope robe this time, it's the dark red and gold one.

NXT World Championship: Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Roode
Clash of styles here, but they make it work, Drew is the bigger guy so he throws Roode around early, and it rules especially when Roode does his main event bumping. It's pretty much all Drew for the opening 5 minutes, with Roode's only effective moves being chops. Well, that is until, Drew goes for a suplex to the floor but Roode blocks it, he then catches Drew coming into the ring with a spinning neck breaker onto the middle rope. Solid Roode control, he targets the neck but also mixes up moves to the back or going to the air just to knock Drew off his feet. He locks in the side-headlock for the main portion of it, I really wish wrestlers would watch '04 Orton if they're gonna do it. Anyway, Drew makes a comeback and they go back-and-forth hitting big moves for near falls, Drew hits the future shock DDT for two. Drew then goes for the air raid crash off the top, but Roode slips out and hits a weak running powerbomb for two. Drew then hits the Claymore Kick a minute later, but Roode gets his foot to the ropes. For some reason, the ref stops Drew from following Roode once Roode roles to the floor. SO DREW HITS A FUCKING TOPE CON HILO TO THE FLOOR! Drew rolls him in but Roode hits a desperation double A spinebuster, Drew then blocks the DDT but Roode counters the counter and hits the DDT but Drew kicks out, Roode hits a 2nd but he tries to roll through. BUT DREW HEADBUTTS HIM AND HITS THE CLAYMORE Kick for the win. **3/4

3pM2v7t.gif

After the match; As Drew is celebrating..........................WE AGAIN GET THE BOX LOGO! BUT FISH AND KYLE ARE BACK...............................SUDDENLY THROUGH THE CROWD ADAM COLE ATTACKS DREW FROM BEHIND! They beat Drew down, and Cole hits a superkick before posing with the NXT World Title to end the show.

MAE YOUNG CLASSIC THIS MONDAY!

Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) vs. Wolfgang & Pete Dunne
Kept short to under 10 minutes, which is a kina a good thing as they cut all the filler stuff and some of the boring control stuff out. Dunne/Bate is good as usual, BruiserGang isolates Trent and work the arm for a bit, I love Maruo but he gotta chill with the rap-culture references like I don't need him bringing up YG's twisting fingers record when Dunne is doing his finger bending stuff. Bate's hot tag is fun, he and Dunn do some of the Chicago spots again, the match breaks down and Bates hits Dunne with the Tyler Driver 97 but Wolfgang blind tags him and hits the senton bomb for the win. **1/4
