Absolution, Sasha Banks and Bayley all to compete in first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match

History will be made on Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Royal Rumble event, where female Superstars will compete in the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble Match.
History will be made at the 30th Anniversary of the Royal Rumble when the WWE Universe witnesses the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match on Sunday, Jan. 28.

It was truly an emotional moment on the Dec. 18 edition of Monday Night Raw when Commissioner Stephanie McMahon made the monumental announcement, declaring that female WWE Superstars will compete for a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 34.

In the historic event, the same rules that apply to the Men’s Royal Rumble Match will apply to the Women’s. Thirty Superstars will enter, one at a time, at consistent intervals. An elimination occurs when a Superstar is sent over the top rope with both feet touching the floor, and the last woman standing will receive a Championship Match at WrestleMania.

With 30 spots available in the ground-breaking contest, the competition promises to be as fierce as it gets. Superstars who have officially declared so far include:

1) Asuka
2) Ruby Riott
3) Sasha Banks
4) Bayley
5) Naomi
6) Natalya
7) Paige
8) Sonya Deville
9) Mandy Rose

The cutting-edge phenomenon that is the WWE Women’s division can only be described as the Women’s Evolution, as the incredible female athletes from Raw and SmackDown LIVE have made history time and again, from the first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell Match to the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match to the unprecedented Raw Women’s Championship Match in the Middle East. And now, as the established elite talent is joined by an influx of up-and-coming Superstars, the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble Match will undoubtedly be a can’t-miss contest.

Which Superstar will seize the moment and book a ticket to WrestleMania 34 for a championship match in New Orleans? Find out when the women of Raw and SmackDown LIVE make history at the Royal Rumble, streaming live on WWE Network on Sunday, Jan. 28, at a special start time of 7 ET/4 PT.

The celebrations just keep on going for Nikki and Brie!

On the same day that The Bella Twins YouTube Channel eclipsed one million subscribers, the women were also treated to the news that this year will see the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble! Overcome with pride and excitement, Brie and Nikki (joining via Facetime) took to their YouTube channel to react to the groundbreaking announcement made by Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon.

Check out the video above to see just what The Bella Twins had to say about history being made!

So lets say all the women on the main roster now enter the match, that's 21 spots filled. Didn't count Bellas, Maria or Maryse, Steph or any of the backstage women.

Lets say around 5 from NXT; Ember, Kairi, Iconic Duo & Nikki Cross. That brings it up to 26.

Ronda heavily rumoured. Can guarantee they want Trish & Lita.

Of course she won't say "I'll be there". Meltzer time: so she may be there or may not be there I assume.

Do you mean fight Sports and do you mean the US? Women in Sport as a whole are taking off, which of course is a good thing.

I like the idea of Rousey winning the rumble, but then WWE using her to get Askua over to the next level. That's smart booking for me.

I think someone like Trish would be more suitable as a figure head for the women's division. She has the history and is better on the mic than Steph.

Yeah if it’s not Rousey it has to be Asuka. She hasn’t even lost a tag team or SS match down 3-1.

I’d figure they at least give her one of those(where her partner loses the match, not her) before she gets an official loss.
