It's a question that has to be asked. I don't know if it has been but there has been definitely some talks about it here. So... After being nothing but a jobber after his return, Mahal became second at ATGMBR at WM this year, then he became #1 contender. While everyone thought it was a joke, the joke was for later: he won the title. Then we found out the real joke! He beat Orton and Nakamura to retain the title -not really surprised as one was rematch and Nakamura was new- but still it's too much for him.

So what do you think about his title reign so far? And this decision of WWE, making Mahal main guy mostly because of Indian market.

Been a terrible reign. Juicer is a decent promo, average worker. Has a great look which is why he's Champion now. But he's been unremarkable this entire time.

But I will say, I'm glad they didn't put the title on Nakamura right now. He's not ready yet either. Just give it to AJ already

He's a heel who actually gets heat.

Keep it on him until the smarks break their computers in frustration.

It will only make the guy who takes it off him that much more beloved because of how much the hare the champion.

That's kind of the point of a heel champion...he's there to piss you off....not entertain you.

I feel that but there's a difference when people are booing your character versus when people are booing the quality of your work, and it seems to be much more of the latter. I think it's crazy that Mahal has become champ and it's something I could get behind, but the booking has been consistently cut and dry and there was so little build to his title run it's kind of hard to care.

Pro wrestlings fucked when the real heels are writers.

Too many bookers and not enough fans these days.

Everyone thinks they're Dave Meltzer...

I don't even know what that means but of course everyone here has an opinion on this stuff, that's why we're here. I don't feel like anyone was trying to act they like had some behind the scenes information but you can look around and see that most people don't like Jinder's reign, and it's not because he has heat, it's because no one takes him seriously, he rarely wrestles on TV, his character is plain jane and almost all his title defenses have gone the same way. I don't want to take anything away from anyone who is enjoying his reign or views him as a good champion... But seriously, let's not act like he's getting booed because of some Ric Flair or Jake Roberts level mic work, it's because people don't enjoy watching him as champion.

Edit - I completely agree with the point you made earlier though. At this point whoever dethrones Jinder is going over big time, so depending on who it is and when it is happens, it could make the whole reign worth it.

Rarely wrestles on TV, plain Jane character, all matches end the same....sounds like Brock Lesnar.

Champions shouldn't wrestle all the time...should be a perk for being the champion.

Nobody gets heat anymore, that's the problem. Jinder gets it because he's everything you say he is....it's working.

Ric Flair and Jake Roberts mic work. ...this isn't the 80s anymore...everyone knows this is a work. Cutting entertaining promos just babyfaces a heel.

We don't need cool heels....that's what faces are for. Maybe if all heels played the Jinder tune....we would have over babyfaces.

over it, I only watch for his fly suit game and entrance music. Those stand up comedy promos on Nakamura really ruined it.

I mean it's fair to criticize Lesnar for the same reasons, but that's ignoring the fact that his reputation far exceeds Mahal. He has a track record of amazing matches, constant overness and drawing power. He's already a legend in two industries. He has the incomparable Paul Heyman as a manager. People look forward to seeing him. He's not known to have people run in to help him save his title.

And I personally can't see how you'd prefer to have uninspiring/annoying/mediocre heels that people legit don't care to watch versus heels that the informed portions of the audience would cheer because they're awesome. I can enjoy a heel and still tell he's the bad guy and experience the show all the same. Everyone does know it's a work, that's why I feel like it's ok if the "bad guy" gets over with some people. And if it gets really bad and your heel is getting more support than your face, you can just roll with it, twist the story however needed. I mean CM Punk was intended to be the heel in his renowned feud with Cena but that's not how it was recieved. They didn't change what they were doing any, they just let the people who liked Punk cheer for Punk and the people that liked Cena cheer for Cena. And in the end, the most legitimately over guy got the rub. To me, that's a good scenario.

But ultimately, I can enjoy wrestling almost no matter what. It's cool that Jinder is champ, but it's far from my favorite thing, and like any human I'd like to see his reign given some kind of fresh spin or ended, whichever is going to create the most entertaining product for myself. Personally I'm pulling for AJ Styles as next champion, but only so he can eventually drop it to Kevin Owens.

CM Punk wasn't intended to be a heel in that program. ..he was given a "shoot" promo, match in his hometown and the finish involved McMahon interference.

Not exactly a heel ish thing

The guy gets no reaction unless he's speaking Punjabi; he's not that much of a heat magnet. You can argue that Owens, Rusev and Corbin all have more heat.

Nobody would care if he wasn't being presented as a top guy when he's obviously not.

Garbage, utter garbage. Gave him a chance for a few weeks but now whenever I see him regardless of his opponent, he's just an instant fast forward.

He's not a good promo and he's not good in the ring either to make up for it, at absolute best he's average and that's probably being kind.

His massive fall from grace can't come quick enough.

Don't really care about the Indian market, but i'm just happy they put the title on someone different, a guy who's put in work for years.. It's not the same guys over and over again, and when Mahal finally loses the title it's going to be a big deal... The longer he has the title the bigger deal it will be when he loses it.
