Either Corgan should get the company to give it a go (not saying he would do anything with it of course, it takes more than just being a fan), or I think TNA needs to die finally. If WWE didn't anything with WCW I don't see them doing much more with TNA. Am surprised that Vince is even interested really. If it was ten years ago I could see it more.
Vince isn't interested in running the company or using its name. Its video library alone is worth it and I bet he'll pick up a few contracts to pad the two brands and NXT. With three separate rosters, WWE can always use new blood.

I understand which is the problem. I'd rather see TNA used for something good which is going to provide fans with an alternative.

I think we're beyond the point of hoping TNA will do anything to be honest. They've exhausted their chances.

I agree, that's why I would rather see them finish then end up in WWE's hands. Any talent WWE want from there they can get at some other point like when their no longer contracted to TNA. And TNA already released a lot of DVD's of their talent and its not like it has the rich history of WCW/NWA. It was bad news for Wrestling they bought both WCW and ECW but at least there was the promise that they could really do something with those promotions.

I'm not sure I understand your argument. If TNA closes in both scenarios, how is it worse if WWE owns their video library? And I would kill to get their original NWA-TNA PPVs on the Network. I don't want to buy their old DVDs or watch them on YouTube.

Because I'd rather either someone do something with them (unlikely at this point like you pointed out) or for them to gone under because their pretty much dead as it is. Don't forget many of the wrestlers who are famous are ex-WWE guys anyway. The few who were made famous in TNA already have DVD's out with them on. At least with WCW there was a chance that WWE could do the Promotional Wars or start up their own version of the brand as an alterntive to WWF's product.

Their best talent probably doesn't want to go back to WWE.

Galloway
Rex(Sandow)
Lashley
Cody
EC3

If WWE makes this move, they're doing it strictly for the library and Jeff Hardy cause I'm sure most of TNA's top guys would rather sit or their contracts than join Vince and Co.

Lol if those are their best talent then they should definitely fold.

I understand the letting someone else do something with it, but the go under part makes little sense. There's no difference if they just go under or WWE buying them and shutting it down. TNA dies either way. I'd rather WWE get that library. Plus, WWE will get it anyway it'll just take more red tape like when ECW folded naturally.

I take your point. I just don't think WWE need to own everyone's libaray's and really I don't think TNA's collection is worth that much anyway. I can't see people lining up to buy TNA-related releases by WWE the way they did with WCW or ECW.

They just held their tv tapings so they got some poor soul to throw money at them for the time being.

Corgan.jpg

WWE is reportedly set to purchase TNA’s video library while TNA will rebrand under new owner Billy Corgan.Pro wrestling journalist Justin LaBar sent out the following Tweet early Wednesday announcing the blockbuster change, which would give Vince McMahon control of TNA’s tape library and have ramifications throughout the wrestling industry:

LaBar’s report seems to confirm what former WWE announcer Jim Ross reported on his “The Ross Report” podcast (h/t SEScoops) earlier this week:

"WWE is allegedly very close to buying the TNA library. Not the promotion, the TNA library. Obviously, with WWE Network, the TNA library could be a nice resource, a nice asset. Now, you know, TNA does have some talents I’m sure WWE would like to have down the road, but now I hear that WWE and TNA have had talks about buying the library and that a deal is imminent."

If TNA is indeed coming to an end, this is just about the best possible way that it could go down.

With WWE reportedly purchasing TNA’s video library, which extends all the way from 2002 to the present, WWE will now have plenty of video footage on a number of stars currently on the roster, like Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode and AJ Styles. This footage, of course, could be used for both DVDs and the WWE Network, which would give fans even more of a reason to purchase the latter.

Additionally, this would allow TNA, which was never a great brand to begin with, to rebrand itself under new ownership, essentially shedding any bad associations that fans may have had with the stale TNA brand. At the same time, it could potentially allow Dixie Carter to exit the wrestling business for good with a shrewd business deal that would seemingly see her earn a nice chunk of change for selling TNA to Corgan and the video library to WWE.

It’s likely that all TNA talent contracts and TV deals would remain in place while the company would simply start working under a new name in the near future. It’s expected that TNA’s most recent Impact tapings will carry the company through the end of 2016, so that would mean that we could see the new TNA, under a new brand, name and direction, by early next year.

While it may be sad for some to see TNA come to an end, the glass isn’t half empty. It’s half full, and this could actually be the best thing that’s ever happened to TNA.

Social media reaction to the reported sale has been overwhelmingly positive:

This could be the best possible solution for everyone. WWE gets all that TNA Wrestling footage for the WWE Network and Billy Corgan gets to shed his company of the shame that is the TNA name and possibly revitalize the company under a new brand.

Revitalizing the company under a new name is not going to work at all because I don't think the interest is there. These guys need to call it quits.

And Brandon you didn't post the other side saying the purchase is unlikely.

There are rumors going around today saying WWE is purchasing the TNA tape library and that Corgan will be re-branding TNA as a new company. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross said that he heard a similar story from a reliable source but reiterated that this is just a rumor. While WWE has been in talks to purchase the library, this scenario seems unlikely as WWE wasn’t interested in making a deal without non-competes for Dixie and Corgan.

So there you go. TNA selling would be best but Dixie in her great knowledge probably won't fold.

Whatever this is from isn't from Forbes where I got this from. The rumors of this sale are being reported from Jim Ross and reliable insiders. The sale isn't final yet, but it seems most likely the deal is on the table.
